The combination of stories gives the views of the same important event by two totally different people. Travis, the young fiery militant who believed in "Victory or Death!" Mrs. Rose, the wife of a prominent doctor, entertained many of the most important men in Texas in her home and tells the story of the women and children of the Texas Revolution.

Many of our characters intertwine their stories with others of the same period.
