Mrs. J. W. Hannig is Suzanna Dickerson (Dickenson), survivor of The Alamo, in her later years. Mrs. Hannig tells the dramatic story of a woman's survival after the trauma of being at The Alamo during the battle, the six weeks of the ensuing Runaway Scrape, the loss of her husband and home, and her struggle to provide a home for her and her daughter.
