"In our present day, it is rare to find an opportunity to show children a true story-teller. Using your voice and costume and presence, we could all hear the cannons booming, see Santa Anna as his army arrived in San Antonio, and feel the power of the resolve the heroes in the Alamo had in their hearts to fight to the end."

William Barret Travis was born on a farm in South Carolina in 1809, but his family moved to a farm in Alabama nine years later. At the age of 16, he was sent to a school in a major Alabama commercial center where he decided to be a lawyer.
But then, ladies and money became his downfall. He headed for Texas, where he became an advocate for Texas independence from Mexico...and in 1836 he lost his life for his cause as the Commander of The Alamo.
Have William Barret Travis present to your group. Hear a story that will inspire you to activate your view of the future.
For a Heroes of History School Experience, a TEKS supportive Curriculum Guide is sent to the teacher. It gives ideas for pre-and post-performance studies and activities to mulitply the impact of the visit by William Barret Travis. Also, the Heroes Of History Experience does not end when Bob Heinonen leaves the builiding. Students may e-mail questions to William B. Travis after the performance and get a personal response from Bob Heinonen. Get them excited....keep it going!
