PLACES I RECOMMEND

Bob Heinonen

"I have worked with a lot of people over the years, and there are some that just stand out because of the quality work they do and the interest they have in their customers. They are good and they don't rip you off. I highly recommend the organizations on this page. I have personally worked with each of them. And, no, I do not receive any money or free goods for these endorsements...I just like when good people do good work."

Texas Hatters "When I bought my hat for William Barret Travis in 2004 at Texas Hatters, I realized I had been wasting my money buying cheap hats. Being an off-the-shelf hat novice, I felt a little strange working with a pro. David Torres took me through figuring it out while he kept me laughing. They have a really funky little shop in Buda. If you want a REAL hat, Texas Hatters is the place." NOTE: They have since moved to Lockhart.
Kathy Weigand Photography "is where I finally went to have professional photos taken. I was looking for someone in the Hill Country that could work with seven different personas as I changed from character to character. I required all photos to be delivered in digital format in both PC resolution and high resolution. Kathy not only works in digital, she had a relationship with a place where we could take the shots with appropriate backgrounds...not just a flat background screen. She worked with me for the 3-4 hours I changed costumes and we set up the shots. Take a look at my gallery of pictures to see the results."
The Hoffman Haus "is in Fredericksburg, Texas. It is a wonderful spot that offers the finest in bed and breakfast guest houses in Fredericksburg and the Hill Country of Texas. The photos in my gallery were taken at the Hoffman Haus. They were wonderful hosts."
Washington-on-the-Brazos I have worked with these people, particularly the staff at The Star Of The Republic Museum, since 1991. Every year they put on a great two-day Texas Independence Day Celebration that all true Texans (and wannabe's) should attend at least once. The event is the weekend closest to Texas Independence Day which is March 2nd.

Stephen F. Austin statue   The Stephen F. Austin statue in Angleton, Texas. A remarkable group of Brazoria County volunteers have erected a statue larger than the one of Sam Houston in Huntsville. They began this ongoing project in April, 2004, and have made incredible progress. Give them all the help you can give. Let's honor the Father of Texas!

Life is too short not to live it as a Texan!
